Hello, my name is James Ponwith. Welcome to my personal webpage. I currently work at Qualcomm in San Diego as a Modem SVE Engineer. I attended the University of San Diego where I recieved my double major in Computer Science and Finance.

I have always been an avid sports lover, demonstrated through the myriad of sports I played while growing up. Ultimately, I kept to my roots of tennis and competed at the collegiate level for the USD Men's Tennis team.

A few of my hobbies include: tennis, basketball, soccer, ping pong, running, hiking, art projects, web development, video games, and yoga.

Projects

I developed All About Tennis Website and produced all media content.

The simulated car is attempting to find the most efficient path from the top left to the bottom right corner of the screen. We can notice how the car slowly begins to take a straighter path and avoids drawn objects. This video is sped up x20.

Developed a custom Python API to control with the DJI Tello drone and implement object detection neural network on live video feed. Additionally, I coupled facial recognition using OpenCV to track a person's face when commanded. Click to view the project poster.

Build a music visualizer with programmable LEDs that selects colors based on a moving color spectrum, volume, and pitch. My biggest struggles with the project came when wiring the setup to a power source.

Example video of the object detection model we ran on our drone's live feed for the final project. The model is identifying tables, chairs, cups, computers, and people in this video. My sincere apolgoies for demo quality..
